  • Arrival for those not attending the Bootcamp and setting up of workspaces

  • Coaches help teams one-on-one

  • Mid weekend check-in, status reports, call for help
  • Finished for the day. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow

Jack Larson

Education Entrepreneur

Jack has been an innovator in private post-secondary education for over 30 years, having started his career at DeVry Education and National Education Corp. He is the founder of Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ: CECO), one of the world’s largest providers of private, for-profit post-secondary education. Under his leadership as President, CEO and a Board member from its inception in 1994 through 2006, CECO acquired renowned brands, including Le Cordon Bleu Schools North America, and pioneered its unique virtual campus used in several highly successful, fully online platforms. Currently, Jack is focused on the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and its world-first Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy. Jack is a founding board member of 2U, an advisor and investor in education companies in Malaysia and India, and Chairman of an Asian education holding company. Jack was one of Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneurs of the Year” in 2000 and was inducted into the “Haas Hall of Fame,” at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, where he currently serves on the advisory board. Jeffrey works in strategy and operations for SESI, an organization that partners with public school districts to help educate students with special needs. Prior to SESI, he served as Chief of Enterprise Growth for Educational Testing Service. Previously, Jeffrey was a principal at Sterling Partners, the education focused private-equity firm where he also served as CEO of Active Day. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. degree in finance and accounting from Indiana University.

Eric likes to create products that address big problems. In 2006, he joined Chicago-based startup PrepMe and led the development of the first adaptive learning platform resulting in a successful acquisition by Ascend Learning in 2011. Currently, Eric is VP of Product for an early-stage EdTech startup where he draws on his background in linguistics, art, and tutoring to lead a talented product team. Michael is the CEO of Better Click Media, a niche, vertical market focused education lead generation business. Previously, Michael was VP of Strategy for Apollo Group, Inc. where he had a particular focus on online marketing and education technology. He additionally led corporate development activities for the publicly traded lead generation company Aptimus (subsequently acquired by Apollo Group in 2007) and has held business development positions with Covigo and Excite@Home. Michael received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University and his AB from Stanford University.

Karan Goel

Karan was the CEO and co-founder of PrepMe, the first adaptive learning platform and a leader in the college readiness space. PrepMe's adaptive learning platform was acquired by Providence Equity's Ascend in July 2011 and its college readiness business was acquired by Hobson's/Naviance in February 2012. He is now at work on a new education technology startup that's improving student outcomes in the higher education market. Karan also participated (and won!) the 2012 StartupWeekend EDU in India.

Eileen Murphy Buckley

Eileen is the founder of ThinkCERCA, a set of curriculum and tools teaching the critical thinking and literacy skills based upon her book "360 Degrees of Text" (NCTE, 2011) and her work as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for over 100 CPS schools, where she worked closely with principals and district leaders. Andi is the director of Curriculum Products at Encyclopedia Britannica. Previously, Andi directed the development of the adaptive learning platform LearnSmart at McGraw Hill. She also served as a Product and Content Manager at Pearson, which she joined through their acquisition of the MIT-affiliated start-up Effective Educational Technologies. Andi has a B.S. in Physics from Saint John Fisher College and a Ph.D in Physics from University of Colorado at Boulder.

Nickolay Schwarz

Nickolay is Lead Product engineer at Benchprep. He works with ruby, javascript and related technology stacks to build web apps that drive higher engagement and better learning outcomes. Previously, he worked as a software engineer at Centro, the largest advertising technology company on the 2013 Inc 5000. Nickolay graduated summa cum laude with Computer Science degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Vishal Shah

With several years of technology-focused investment banking experience in Silicon Valley, Vishal leads the vision and growth of VLinks Media. Vishal is also a co-founder of the start-up collaborative work space Catapult Chicago. Outside of work Vishal is a 5-handicap on the golf course and an avid fan of the University of Michigan.

Luke Shepard

CTO, eSpark Learning

Luke is a hacker and learner. He joined the eSpark team as CTO because he has a passion for understanding how elementary schoolchildren's learning can be dramatically personalized with technology. Previously, he managed the Mobile Platform team at Facebook, which provides distribution, payments, and tools to developers on iOS and Android devices. He also helped build Facebook Connect and the initial version of the OAuth 2.0 protocol. Luke holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago.

Kyle Shea

Kyle oversees the management of sales, technology and business analytics to drive the growth of All Campus. He leads sales initiatives of All Campus’s university partnerships, focusing on performance metrics of the digital marketing and technology enhancements made by All Campus to successfully grow new student enrollments.
